The Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center (JLAC) organized a diplomatic field visit for the South African Representative Office to the State of Palestine, represented by Ambassador Ashraf Suleiman and Counselor-Political Lesiba Machaba, to the south western Jenin area (including Ya'bad, Im Al Rayhan, Tora Al Sharkeyeh, and Thaher Al Maleh school) enclaved behind the Apartheid Wall. The tour aimed to explore the reality lived by those subjected to Israeli restrictions and violations in the area, highlighting Israel’s policy of settlement expansion. During the field visit, participants heard a detailed explanation from community members about the daily suffering they endure under occupation and efforts to push them out of the homes and lands they inhabit. The mission also shared their uniquely similar experience as South Africans and their commitment to the Palestinian people’s steadfastness. The field visit was coordinated by a member of JLAC's Board of Directors from the community, Ms. Amneh Kilani, and was attended by several other members of JLAC's Board and staff (Amin Inabi- Chairman of Board, Board members Maysa Salem and Safa Abu Assab, Janet Machael- member of JLAC's General Assembly, Issam Aruri- JLAC's Director, and staffers Mai Farsakh and Roula Said).
