Seminar on Systemic Forced Displacement; the Case of Palestinian Bedouins within and beyond the Green Line.
JLAC, in cooperation with Adalah (the Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel) and CIDSE (Cooperation International pour le Developpement et la Solidarite), as represent by CAFOD (the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development), held a seminar on October 26, 2017 entitled; “Systemic Forced Displacement; the Case of Palestinian Bedouins within and beyond the Green Line". The event sought to contribute updated firsthand information to the discourse began during the CIDSE advocacy tour in the UK and Belgium in January 2017 (participated in by JLAC, and in the second leg by Adalah). As lead players in the protection of at-risk Bedouin communities both within and beyond the green line, JLAC and Adalah (respectively) contributed new developments from their work in the field and in the courts, in addition to pertinent legislative developments. CIDSE presented a review of their report entitled; “No Place Like Home; A Reader on the Forced Internal Displacement of Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel” which the January 2017 tour was premised around. Collectively, JLAC, Adalah, and CIDSE served the larger objective providing messaging and statistics to attendees for use in their further advocacy initiatives. The seminar was attended by tens of consulates, UN agencies, international NGOs and human rights defenders.
