Intern Project Coordinator
INTRODUCTION
Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Centre was established in 1974 by the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). (JLAC) has remained steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the human rights of Palestinians. Over the years, JLAC has adapted its focus to address the most urgent concerns of the time, with emphasis currently placed on protecting vulnerable communities in East Jerusalem and Area C, ensuring their rights to housing, livelihood, and public freedoms. Through the provision of pro bono legal aid, outreach efforts, and advocacy initiatives, JLAC endeavors to hold various Duty Bearers, including the Israeli government in East Jerusalem, its military apparatus in Area C, and the Palestinian Authority, accountable for their responsibilities.
JLAC is seeking a dedicated, dynamic, and proactive intern, with strong interest in human rights issues. The intern will be expected to be flexible and work on multiple tasks with varying and often tight, deadlines.
- Main Responsibilities
In close cooperation with the General Director and the Planning and Fundraising Unit the (Intern) will be responsible for:
- Assist in fulfilling project requirements and prepare various donor materials.
- Support the drafting of narrative reports on projects’ results, achievements, and indicators.
- Assist in preparing presentations, briefings, other information required by donor partners.
- Help prepare project submissions for funding.
- Participate in coordinating meetings with local and international NGO, and donor partners on behalf of the Planning and Fundraising Unit.
- Support in preparing for field visits, meetings, and the consultations with relevant donors, as well as for donor field missions when required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Required Skills & Qualifications
- University degree– in International Law, Political Science, International Relations, Communications.
- Knowledge of international law, human rights, and Palestinian civil society mandate.
- Excellent drafting skills in English and Arabic.
- Good analytical, communication, and research skills.
- Ability to work independently, when necessary.
- Good command of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility, team working skills, professional and personal integrity.
- Commitment to the mandate of JLAC.
- No previous experience is required.
c. What the intern will learn:
- Developing projects and programs proposals.
- Developing projects and programs reports.
- Understand the logic of preparing action plans, indicators, and measurements.
- Direct exposure to the field work of JLAC and its partners.
- Communicate efficiently regarding JLAC programs and projects.
